God, Politics & Party

A Two-Part Series for Those Who Struggle With Where Politics Ends and Faith Begins

“Every generation faces its own battle for truth, and ours is no different. The danger today is not persecution from without, but deception from within. The most effective lies are not shouted in rebellion but whispered in the language of love, progress, and compassion. They sound noble, they feel kind, and they appear moral — yet they slowly replace obedience with emotion, and truth with tolerance.” — C. J. Bartels

Matter of Fact Books is making both books available to read free of charge for a limited time, in the hope that, if you identify as a Christian, you will truly understand what you have chosen to believe.

Now Its Up To You

__________

We live in an age of blurred lines, softened convictions, and redefined truth. Many pulpits thunder less with repentance and salvation and more with slogans of tolerance and acceptance. Love is lifted up as if it alone were the gospel, while repentance — the very doorway to salvation — is quietly set aside. But when love is divorced from truth, what remains is not Christianity at all, but a man-made religion designed to soothe consciences rather than save souls.

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible speaks clearly about sin. It does not bend to culture, shift with public opinion, or change with the times. When the apostles preached across the ancient world — in Corinth with its immorality, in Athens with its philosophies, in Rome with its decadence — the message was the same: repent, believe in Jesus Christ, and be saved.
The platform of today’s Democratic Party movement openly conflicts with those standards. It celebrates what God calls sin, demands acceptance of what God condemns, and even seeks to legislate against biblical truth. You can be many things in this world, but you cannot be a faithful Christian if you embrace what God calls sin.

But here is the wonderful truth: You have free will. That means you have the power to make a choice based on what has been given to us in the form of prophecy, historical facts, and the ability to believe in something that is not only standing before us but takes the form of faith. You have a choice to make. You can embrace the Democratic Party, stand behind it, and call it your guiding light and step away from God. Or you can deny it and choose instead to follow Christ as your true foundation. You can’t do both. You cannot claim the banner of Democrat, at least at this time in history, and the name of Christ without contradiction. The wonderful thing for those who decide to choose God over the world, is that Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

A Final Note If You Pick The World Over God
If you feel that the Democratic Party’s social justice platform is your calling and Christianity is not your cup of tea, then make the best of it, because you cannot follow both. But remember: if Christianity is true, this world is all the heaven you will ever know apart from Christ. And if you do choose the politics of the Democratic Party over God, never forget that the door to Jesus is still open to you, no matter what you have done. All are welcome to come to him.

A Final Note If You Pick God Over The World
Scripture warns that a time will come when people will not endure sound doctrine but will gather teachers who tell them what their itching ears want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3). That time appears to be now. Consider the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement and figures discussed in this book: Benny Hinn; C. Peter Wagner, a major historical organizer and theorist of NAR and the founder of Wagner University; Bill Johnson of Bethel Church in Redding, California; Kris Vallotton of Bethel Church and Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry; Ché Ahn of Harvest International Ministry and Harvest Rock Church; Chuck Pierce of Glory of Zion International; and Cindy Jacobs of Generals International. These figures, along with many others discussed here and elsewhere, can seem appealing, yet I contend that each stands on the other side of the river, drawing people into the water until they are submerged. In my assessment, the Democratic Party platform is not the only source of deception; it is just one of the devil’s many tools, using a carefully worded imitation of compassion that replaces God’s truth with man’s.

Remember, deception doesn’t always look dark. Sometimes it glows. Sometimes it preaches love and tolerance. Sometimes it wears a smile. Sometimes it’s in a song that makes you cry and leads you to a singer that should raise suspicions. But make no mistake — the same serpent that whispered in Eden still whispers today: “Did God really say?” Spiritual deception is not new; it is as old as sin itself. The difference today is that it’s disguised as virtue. The words sound good, the motives seem kind, and the policies appear moral — but at their core, they pull hearts away from repentance and toward rebellion.

Every generation faces its own battle for truth, and ours is no different. The danger today is not persecution from without, but deception from within. The most effective lies are not shouted in rebellion but whispered in the language of love, progress, and compassion. They sound noble, they feel kind, and they appear moral — yet they slowly replace obedience with emotion, and truth with tolerance. Standing firm will cost you something. It may cost friends, status, or comfort. You may be misunderstood, mocked, or labeled hateful. But remember: Jesus said, “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you” (John 15:18). Truth has never been popular, but it has always been powerful. The cross was not comfortable, but it was victorious. And Scripture gives a haunting warning about what happens when deception fully takes root: “The days are coming, declares the Lord God, when I will send a famine on the land — not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east; they shall run to and fro, to seek the word of the Lord, but they shall not find it” (Amos 8:11–12). There is no greater devastation than spiritual deafness — when truth is still spoken, but hearts can no longer hear it.

So as you have probably heard before…put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11–18). Fasten the belt of truth, guard your heart with righteousness, and lift the shield of faith. Keep the sword of the Spirit — the Word of God — in your hand and the gospel of peace on your feet. You are not fighting flesh and blood, but the unseen forces that twist good into evil and truth into lies. And above all, remember this: light still conquers darkness. Truth still frees the captive. Grace still redeems the lost. No political platform, cultural current, or social movement can outshine the eternal Word of God. Hold fast to it. Speak it in love. Live it without shame. When you do, you will not drift — you will stand. And when the tide of deception rises around you, your foundation will not move, because it is built on the Rock that cannot be shaken — Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
